Joy to the world, the Lord is come! These lyrics have come to be known as one of the most popular hymns ever published, and a staple of the Christmas season for over 200 years. Interestingly enough, the writer of this song didn’t necessarily intend it to be just about Christmas, but actually wrote it to point to the hope that is yet to come…Christ’s return. There are times in life that Joy comes easily, and there are times that we need the reminder. Our hope for you this Christmas is that wherever you are, and whatever you are surrounded by in this season, that your hope is held in Jesus. When our hope is held in the truths of Christ it is possible to have Joy in all circumstances (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18), and to have hope in the restoration that is promised to come. JOY to the world!
