Tanker Mechanic

Seneca Tank is seeking a full-time mechanic to troubleshoot and upgrade petroleum tank trucks and trailers.  No experience working with petroleum tank units is required.

 

The ideal candidate will have experience building or repairing diesel, gas, or hydraulic equipment, as well as experience with welding and fabrication.  PTO knowledge would be helpful.

 

Seneca Tank is an international supplier of new and used petroleum tank trucks, transports, and truck tank parts, with more than 40 years of experience.  We also operate an ASME certified repair and DOT service facility supported by a million-dollar parts inventory.  Our company prides itself on its family environment and focus on safety.

Trailer Mechanic

Seneca Tank is seeking an experienced trailer mechanic to troubleshoot, repair, and perform preventative maintenance on petroleum tanker trailers.

 

The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years’ experience with semi-trailer repair and preventative maintenance, including welding, fabrication, and DOT inspections.

Controller

Summary

Reporting to the President, the incumbent serves as a member of the executive management team. The job holder is responsible for overseeing all general accounting, finance, and information services functions for the company. The Controller also administers business services provided by third-party vendors and engages in strategic business planning.

 

Supervisory Responsibility

The Controller supervises an assistant controller, accounts payable clerk, administrative assistant, and an information services administrator.

 

Essential Job Functions

General Accounting (60%)

 

• Oversee all aspects of the general accounting function for the company

• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements per generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)

• Maintain logical and organized chart of accounts to facilitate understanding of company’s financial health

• Manage month-end close process, including bank reconciliations, posting of revenue and expenses, reconciliation of balance sheet accounts, making journal entries, and posting accounts payable (AP)/receivable(AR)

• Perform periodic bank reconciliations

• Manage and review balance sheet account reconciliations

• Keep track of cash and funding balances, and ensure adequate cash flow to meet organizational needs

• Recommend KPI benchmarks for measuring performance of company operations and financial success, and provide corresponding goal attainment metrics to executive team, weekly

• Plan and maintain cost accounting system to allow for accurate estimation of product cost for profitability analysis, inventory valuation, and cost control.

• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual corporate forecasts and operating budgets which include projected 180-day cash flow

• Participate in drafting of departmental budgets

• Determine cost-effectiveness of services provided and manufacturing of products

• Meet budget objectives by scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances, and initiating corrective actions

• Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal laws regarding finances, including meeting reporting and tax filing requirements

• Oversee preparation of sales, use, excise and property taxes to ensure accuracy and timely payment

• Manage accounts payable and receivable functions to ensure all reasonable discounts are taken on accounts payable, and that AP accounts are paid and AR payments are received in a timely manner

• Compile and analyze all account reconciliations to ensure accuracy

• Develop and maintain a documented system of policies and procedures (internal controls) governing accounting transactions that align with best practices and provide reasonable assurance that company assets are protected

• Regularly monitor financial transactions to ensure accuracy and identify suspicious activity

• Conduct credit reviews on new and existing customers and establish credit limits and terms

• Manage accounting and financial functions in ERP system

• Ensure ERP system is being maximized for use by all departments

• Coordinate provision of financial information to external auditors for monthly and annual audits

• Cooperatively partner with Director of Human Resources in administration of payroll and benefits program

• Work with President and department managers to ensure effectiveness of initiatives, plans, and procedures by providing cost-analysis support

External Business Services Administration (10%)

• Manage insurance, including general liability, property/casualty, and workers’ compensation insurance to ensure adequate, appropriate and cost effective insurance is in force

• Collaborate with Director of Human Resources in oversight of third-party payroll and benefits administration services to ensure products/services provided meet company needs, and are cost effective and legally compliant

• Manage banking relationships and administer bank accounts including timely accounts reconciliation

Financial Analysis & Planning (20%)

• Prepare and analyze regular and ad hoc financial reports utilizing corresponding data to guide senior leaders in decisions that will lead to increased corporate profitability

• Formulate business strategies for maximized revenue

• Execute accounting staff succession and growth plans

Hiring & Supervision (10%)

• Interview job applicants and make hiring recommendations to Human Resources Director

• Manage employee performance by communicating work expectations, providing feedback/coaching, documenting notable behaviors, and conducting appraisals

• Administer disciplinary actions and employment terminations per company policies and applicable laws

• Oversee staff scheduling, including time off requests and overtime authorizations

• Address complaints and resolve conflicts involving direct reports

 

Competencies:

• Ability to read, write, speak and understand English, and communicate effectively both orally and in writing

• Excellent knowledge of accounting processes (e.g., budgeting and financial closure) and GAAP

• Ability to analyze and interpret technical procedures and governmental regulations and deal with ambguity

• Advanced Excel spreadsheet skills

• Strong research and analytical skills, and attention to detail

• Ability to handle competing priorities and meet deadlines

• Good organizational skills

• Strong knowledge of IT systems

• Solid leadership and supervisory skills

 

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance, active CPA or CMA certification preferred

• Ten (10) years’ experience in a senior accounting role in a manufacturing environment

• Five (5) year’s IT experience, including implementation/upgrade/customization and routine usage of ERP software
